What Are Telemetry Rewards
Telemetry Rewards are GoMount's way of saying thank you for helping us improve the app. By opting into anonymous usage statistics, you give the engineering team a clear picture of which features matter most, where crashes happen, and how real users configure their mounts.
In return, the Free plan gets meaningful headroom: the limits for NAS devices, S3-compatible cloud storage connections, and File Hub schemas are doubled automatically once telemetry is enabled and validated.
Pro tip: Rewards are applied instantly on the local device. You do not need to create an account or wait for a server response.
What Data Is Collected
GoMount only collects high-level, non-identifying telemetry. The goal is product quality, not user tracking. Here is what is sent:
- Heartbeat: A daily anonymous ping that confirms the app is active and reports the current plan tier (Free or Pro).
- Feature events: Which features are opened, such as the file browser, transfer queue, schema manager, or smart folders. No filenames, folder names, or server addresses are included.
- Mount outcomes: Whether a mount attempt succeeded or failed, without the actual share path, credentials, or IP address.
- Crash reports: Aggregated stack traces when the app terminates unexpectedly, signed with an HMAC key to prevent tampering.
GoMount does not collect passwords, keychain contents, file metadata, browsing history, or NAS content.
How to Enable Telemetry
Enabling telemetry takes a few seconds and can be toggled off at any time.
- Open GoMount and click the gear icon in the toolbar or menu bar to open Settings.
- Navigate to the Privacy & Analytics tab.
- Turn on Anonymous Usage Statistics.
- Click Apply. The reward counters on the Free plan card will update immediately.
If you ever change your mind, return to the same switch. Disabling telemetry reverts the Free plan limits to their default values on the next app launch.
Reward Tiers
The following table shows how telemetry affects Free plan limits. Pro users already have unlimited NAS devices and higher schema allowances, so rewards apply mainly to cloud storage and schema limits for them.
Note: Telemetry rewards are tied to the active device. If you use GoMount on multiple Macs, enable telemetry on each one to receive the doubled limits everywhere.
Privacy & Security
Privacy is built into the telemetry pipeline from the start:
- Every payload is signed with an HMAC key so the server can reject spoofed or tampered reports.
- No personally identifiable information is transmitted.
- All network requests use HTTPS.
- Telemetry settings are stored locally and honored immediately.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need telemetry to use GoMount?
No. Telemetry is entirely optional. The app works fully without it, but the Free plan limits stay at their default values.
Will enabling telemetry slow down my Mac?
No. Telemetry batches events and uploads them on a low-priority background queue. The impact on CPU, battery, and network is negligible.
Can rewards stack with Pro?
Pro users already receive unlimited NAS devices and three File Hub schemas. Telemetry rewards for cloud storage connections still apply and raise the limit from one to two if you are on an older Pro tier.
Why did my limits not change after enabling telemetry?
Make sure you clicked Apply in Settings, then restart GoMount. If the limits still look unchanged, open the Free plan card on the pricing page in Settings to refresh the displayed values.
